Current Project

In a continued effort to build a better mapper, I am now working on a project with a group of fellow students that takes GPS data and generates active maps of variable magnification. I hope to incorporate this into the specimen mapper found here someday, but for now more work is required, and a data source to supply dynamic(changing) data is still being sought. Other than our artificial data generator anyway.

Recent Work

My most recent project was a molecular biology based study of the phylogenetic relationships of a few invertebrates common (aka - easily found) on the shores of North Carolina. This study was completed in December 2004, and served primarily as a learning tool to help me become all the systematic researcher I can be. I also learned that the easiest way to collect polychaetes is to try to collect Nemerteans. If there is a severe outcry for it, I just may post my report. Past that I'm looking into something interesting to present at the next conference in Brazil, my current interests are in gene regulation networks so we'll see what comes up.

Past Projects

My previous toils as a two time summer intern(2003-2004) at the National Museum of Natural History were centered around the creation of a mapping system to keep track of where the various species of the phylum Nemertea could be located for many purposes. This system is now available on this web page as a map search. Some bugs still remain as a programmer's work is never done. I continue to toy with making it faster, more intuitive, and faster (did I mention faster?).
